Lanakila sending rooster tails up at Makena Beach

Born and raised on the island of Maui, as I reflect on who I am today, it is evident that I must contribute my found passions, art and the ocean, to the environment I grew up in and my artistic parents Karen Moberg and Mark Kelliher.  Blank canvases, artist paint brushes, and rainbows of acrylics were the toys of my youth.  Sandy beaches with endless curling waves were my playgrounds.  From this freedom of expression, I have created my life.

When I was 14, my father bought me my first skimboard shaped by Brent Edwards of Maui Skimmers.  I was hooked!  I have been skimming and competing for 20 years and helped establish a Professional Women’s Division at the annual World Championships of Skimboarding.

Today I am a professional artist and owner of Lanakila Creations.  I specialize in design consultation, faux finishing, gold gilding, electroplating, and large murals depicting the essence of Hawaiian culture and landscapes.  My love of the ocean keeps me healthy and I surf and skim as much as possible.  It is my lifelong goal to share the knowledge and techniques I have with the future generations of artists and athletes.
